There are no major resorts on the eastern side of Krk, but a succession of attractive small settlements provide reason enough to make a brief foray into the region. You'll need your own transport in order to explore the region in depth: towns in this part of the island are connected by infrequent bus to Krk Town, but not with each other, meaning that you can only visit one of them in the course of a day-trip.

East of Krk Town, a minor turning branches off the main road to Baska and climbs over a low ridge towards the fertile plain of the Vrbničko polje, where lush vineyards supply the wineries of VRBNIK, a small town perched on a fifty-metre-high sea cliff. The highly regarded local tipple, the dry white Vrbniča Žlahtina, is served in numerous local wine cellars, and the town itself – a network of narrow cobbled alleys which occasionally part to reveal views of Crikvenica and NoviVinodolski across the water – is worth a quick amble.

There are two daily buses from Krk Town to Vrbnik – you'll have to catch the early morning service if you want to return the same day. -Specializing in Cheap Flights F
